Resumen
Las infecciones bacterianas son una causa importante de morbilidad y mortalidad, y la resistencia bacteriana a los antibacterianos actuales hace necesario buscar nuevas alternativas en las plantas. Este estudio evaluó el efecto antibacteriano del extracto puro de Croton lechleri Müll. Arg contra Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300. Utilizando el método de macrodilución, se probaron diferentes concentraciones del extracto (30% a 100%). Los resultados mostraron que el extracto tiene efectos bactericidas a concentraciones superiores al 77%, con una inhibición total entre el 91% y el 100%.
Abstract Bacterial infections are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, and bacterial resistance to current antibacterials necessitates the search for new plant-based alternatives. This study evaluated the antibacterial effect of pure Croton lechleri Müll. Arg extract against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300. Using the macrodilution method, various extract concentrations (30% to 100%) were tested. The results showed that the extract has bactericidal effects at concentrations above 77%, with total inhibition between 91% and 100%.
