Resumen
La diabetes mellitus tipo II (DM2) es una enfermedad metabólica creciente a nivel mundial. Este estudio evaluó la efectividad de la ingesta diaria de 2 g de canela (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) en los niveles de glucemia de pacientes con DM2 en el Hospital José Agurto Tello, Chosica, en 2015. Se utilizó un diseño cuasi-experimental con 31 participantes divididos en grupo experimental y grupo control. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en los niveles de glucemia entre ambos grupos antes, durante y después de la intervención. Se concluyó que la ingesta de 2 g de canela no mostró una disminución significativa de la glucemia.
Abstract Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a growing metabolic disease worldwide. This study evaluated the effectiveness of daily intake of 2 g of cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) on blood glucose levels in T2DM patients at José Agurto Tello Hospital, Chosica, in 2015. A quasi-experimental design was used with 31 participants divided into an experimental group and a control group. No significant differences were found in blood glucose levels between the two groups before, during, and after the intervention. It was concluded that the intake of 2 g of cinnamon did not show a significant reduction in blood glucose levels.
