Resumen
As a result of the changes generated by the COVID 19 pandemic, business organizations have faced great challenges where uncertainty, chaos and the global markets crisis have led to organizational rethinking. In this context, the objective of the study was to analyze the impact of COVID 19 on the productivity and profitability of small and medium-sized enterprises in Peru. To do this, a quantitative approach was followed, with a non-experimental, descriptive-cross-sectional design. The population was made up of 1,865 small and medium-sized companies, registered under the figure of Individual Company of Limited Responsibility, which are in the Commercial Emporium of Gamarra, Lima-Peru, calculating a sample of 319 through a simple random sampling. The survey technique was applied through an online questionnaire of 16 questions on a polytomous scale. The results show that 64% of the companies are operational, while 77% decreased their sales, also 66% adopted new sales modalities, 43% assumed mixed work and 60% offered training to their workers. It is concluded that the impact has been negative for the companies studied, which have shown a decrease in demand, sales, productivity and profitability. © 2021
